CTB Update 11/5/23:
Despite rumors running rampant, the HighRose proposed 79 unit building is NOT a done deal as some recent actions might mislead residents into thinking otherwise.
Recently some residents (mostly within 100 feet of the proposed project) received orange notices regarding a public meeting for new construction between the developer, the City and residents at the HighRose location. The meeting was held on 11/2/2023 at 10am and was a routine pre-construction briefing.
Some residents reached out to Chill The Build out of concern, believing the HighRose project will definitely be built. This is NOT the case.
The matter of determining whether or not a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) study is required has NOT been determined by the courts.
It appears the developer and the City of MB are attempting to move forward with the demolition of the three Tradewinds buildings along with the Verandas building.
CTB legally positioned itself to ensure no ground disturbances shall take place until the CEQA study decision has been reached by the courts. It seems any such disturbances would make a mockery of the court given the pending litigation of the issue. The court date is in March 2024.
As a result, CTB recently filed a court injunction against both the builder and the City to ensure such ground disturbances are avoided and the safety and health concerns of residents are given the utmost priority they deserve.
CTB and its attorneys are fighting on despite the latest attempts of the City and the developer to move forward with the HighRose project.
If residents see any anything that looks like digging, or has any other information relating to this project, please contact CTB at info@chillthebuild.com and share your concerns.
